The opposition parties, which have sought VVPAT slip counting of 50% EVMs, said, “The aforesaid increase to a mere 2% (from 0.44%) is not sufficient and will not make any substantial difference to the situation that existed prior to the passing of the April 8 order..." The move is seen as unusual against the backdrop of BJP’s defeat in the assembly elections.
